Gokarna is a fascinating town with pristine beaches and significant shrines. Unwind yourself into the golden evenings and mornings, amazingly beautiful sunrises and sunsets, or just find solace in the ancient temples of Gokarna.


Itinerary

Day 1 : Gokarna

Kudle Beach

  1. After reaching Gokarna, freshnup and get to the beach. The two main beaches to cover on Day 1 are Kudle Beach & Om Beach.
    • You can easily hire a scooty from main town or there are autos for travelling in Gokarna.
    • Spend your evening at one of the cafes in Kudle or Om beach.

Day 2 : Murudeshwar - Honnavar

Murudeshwar

  1. You can start by visiting the famous Murudeshwar Temple, which is about 80 km far from Gokarna. Note : Drive safely on the highway & there’s a shorter route to save around 15 km through Tadri jetty point towards Kumta.
    • Timing of temple : 7am - 1 pm & 3pm - 8pm
    • Visit the temple and you can have Prasadam (lunch) in the temple itself if you wish to for free
    • Explore the temple surrounding and the Shiva statue.
    • There is a viewing deck on the top floor of the main building accessible through a lift. Ticket - 10 rs per person
  2. After the temple while coming back you can visit the mangrove forest broadwalk Kandla Mangrove forest.
    • Get back to Gokarna and head to some cozy cafe for dinner.

Day 3 : Vibhooti falls & Yana caves

Yana Caves

  1. On this day after breakfast you can head to Vibhooti falls, which is about 45 km away from Gokarna. Note - Try to visit in the morning around 10am, to avoid rush. Entry fees 5 rs per person.
    • You can take a dip in the falls and there are life jacket on rent & a small changing room available.
    • You need to hike to the falls about 800m in the forest, which takes about 15 mins from the main entry point.
  2. After Vibhooti falls you can go visit Yana caves which is more 10 km far from Vibhooti falls. Note : Roads get muddy and in a very bad state, only if you are experienced driver / rider or with a pillion then only go ahead with this spot. Wear a mask as the road gets very dusty after this.

Note

  1. If you do not want to visit Vibhooti falls and Yana caves, you can go on a beach trek which is very famous in Gokarna (trek covers all the beaches of Gokarna even those which are not even accessible by road).

  1. You can visit the main Gokarna temple but there are certain rules related to clothes that you can wear to enter the temple.
