Day 1 : Enter Shillong, the vibrant and bustling capital of Meghalaya

Welcome to North East India!

  • Destination: Team ChaloHoppo will be waiting at the airport to receive you and your fellow travellers as you land in Guwahati. By 11 am, we will start our drive to Meghalaya.
  • Day 1 Itinerary: This first day is for you to soak up the unique energy and charm of Shillong, the bustling capital. Being a weekend, Shillong is buzzing with activity, offering something for everyone.
  • Activities: Our on-ground team will guide you to the best spots, whether it be the cafes, clubs, or street markets. If you prefer to explore on your own, there are plenty of options, from visiting the Don Bosco museum, going shopping, getting out for a great meal, or dancing at a local club.
  • Accommodation: Finally, return to your stay for a good night's sleep. Don’t forget- you have an action-packed week coming up.
  • Upcoming: Overnight at Shillong

Day 2 : Slowing down to the tunes of Sohra

Sohra

  • Location: The journey starts in the Meghalayan outdoors, with a destination in Sohra, Southern side of the East Khasi Hills.
  • Highlights: The region is known for waterfalls, natural pools, living root bridges, caves, and natural wonders.
  • Local Experience: Interact with local communities and experience the warmth of the region.
  • Hidden Gems: Explore less crowded, secret spots with local experts.
  • Evening: Spend the evening around a bonfire and get to know fellow travellers.
  • Accommodation: Overnight stay in Sohra.

Day 3 : Going off the beaten trail into the crystal clear Wahrew

  • Discover secluded, crystal-clear waters:
    • Explore lesser-known, untouched spots.
    • Engage in activities like kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, and swimming.
    • Immerse in the beauty of Meghalaya.

  • End the day by warming up around a fire in Sohra before an overnight stay.

Day 4 : Discovering Depths and Dancing to Khasi Tunes

  • Caving Experience: After a hearty breakfast and check-out from our accommodation, embark on a 3-hour caving adventure in one of Meghalaya's mystical caves led by local experts. Explore winding underground passages and discover the hidden beauty beneath the surface.
  • Scenic Lunch: Enjoy a hearty packed lunch in a scenic outdoor setting surrounded by Meghalaya's natural beauty.
  • Visit to Pynter Village: Next, journey to Pynter, a charming village known for its stunning landscapes and vibrant musical culture.
  • Traditional Music: Be enchanted by local Khasi musicians playing traditional tunes on indigenous instruments. Guests are encouraged to join in the celebration and dance to the vibrant rhythms of Khasi culture.
  • Cultural Exchange: Immerse yourself in a beautiful moment of cultural exchange and pure enjoyment, connecting with the heart of Meghalaya's traditions.
  • Accommodation: As the day comes to an end, bid farewell to Pynter and its musical charms, making your way back to your accommodation for the night. Enjoy the evening at leisure.

Day 5 : Rooting for the future- The story of the living root bridges of Meghalaya

Root Bridges

  • Destination: Rangthylliang, Meghalaya
  • Activity: Hike through challenging trails to explore living root bridges
  • Guided Tour: Learn about the history and conservation of these natural wonders
  • Picnic Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch in the jungle
  • Final Destination: Reach Mawkyrnot for transportation to your stay in Shillong
  • Evening Leisure: Spend the evening at leisure, reminiscing about your trip

Day 6 : Look at this as the beginning, not the end

Landscape

  • Check-out after breakfast:
    • Return from the hills to the plains of Assam.
    • Drive of approximately 4 hours.
    • Option to continue to the next destination.
    • Alternatively, take a flight or train back home.
    • A warm invitation to return for more North East India experiences.
