Gokarna with friends 🏖️🥳

Exploring the coastal town of Karnataka, Gokarna. One of the holy places for hindus, Gokarna has to offer a lot for travellers.

Day 1

Boarded train no 12133 : Mangalore express And got down at Kumta. It takes about 10-11 hours to reach Kumta. Gokarna is about 35km from Kumta.

Day 2

Ticket : 40rs Time : about 1hr Buses are available from Kumta directly to Gokarna and it's the cheapest/ easy way to reach.

It's located in the main town, about 400m from the main bus stand. Rental scooters and bikes available here. Prices are valid for 24 hours. Ranges from 350 - 800 per day. 9036317219 - Mr. Ganpati

Right on the middle beach Gokarna. The vibe here is too good. Need to walk about 300m on sand to reach the hotel. They have an amazing cafe on the beach and cottages on the back side.

1st spot of the day : Kudle beach. It's about 9km from the main town. You will get bikes / scooters on rent easily. There are autos too available, if you want to roam around.

One of the best beaches in Gokarna. There are many cafes and beach stay option available. You can take a swim on this beach and it's perfect for a relaxed evening. You need to hike downwards to the beach.

Next spot in Gokarna to visit is Om beach. This is Om shaped beach. One of the most famous cafes in Gokarna, Namaste cafe is located here. Best place to watch the sunset in Gokarna. Washroom available.

Day 3

Next day after breakfast we left for Murudeshwar temple. If you are visiting Murudeshwar take a ferry route (Tadri jetty to Aghanashini jetty) This will save your 12kms by road. Roads are very nice, drive safely.

Took the darshan of Lord shiva and had prasad there. We went to the statue and sat there for an hour. Lift service is available but there are timings to go on top of the building. Temple remain close from 1pm - 3pm

After darshan we decided to visit & explore Honnavar which is about 30km from Murudeshwar on way to Gokarna.

Ticket : 10rs per person. This is the mangrove forest over Sharavathi river and there is a wooden bridge constructed that will take in inside the mangrove forest

Just 9 kms ahead, off NH 66, this bridge is located. This is a suspension bridge used and seen mostly in Karnataka used by locals to cross rhe river.

Came back to our stay. Ended our day with dinner at the cafe and sitting on the main beach.

Day 4

About 50kms from Gokarna, it's one of the waterfalls you can visit. Road conditions are bad in some patches.

Ticket : 5rs per person Parking available for cars, bikes, buses. There is a 1km trek to reach the waterfall, the trek is easy. It's a beautiful waterfall and life jacket is available on rent along with a changing room facility.

After Vibhuti falls we headed to Yana rocks / caves. It's 9km far from Vibhuti and roads conditions are very bad. Muddy & bad roads till Yana. Drive safely.

Yaha cave is 9 km from Vibhooti falls.

Came back to our hotel and rested for the day

Day 5

This is the main temple in Gokarna. Please note : Mens are only allowed in dhotis and women in saree or salwar suits. No other dress code is allowed to enter the temple.

Market

Explored the local market, selling clothes and antiques. Spices and other goods can be purchased here. There are many veg restaurants serving delicious idli wada and dosas.

Took a bus back to Kumta. We had booked an evening train from Kumta.

Boarded 12134 Mumbai exp from Kumta at 5.30pm and reached Thane at 4am. Sleeper class : 550rs
