Rameswaram

Rameswaram is a small yet very popular pilgrimage place for Hindus. Lord Rama resided here for many days. It's indeed a beautiful and peaceful city which holds many places to see and beauty to experie

Activity

Of the long 15 days trip we had planned, Rameswaram was one of it's destination. We started off from Thanjavur to reach Rameswaram. We reached Rameswaram early morning.

Sight Seeing

Before even reaching the beautiful city you will witness the breath catching Pamban bridge. It seems that the train is moving over the water itself as the water is very clear & bridge is low lying. Even the pebbles are visible.

We got down at the station and took a cab to reach our hotel. First thing on our mind was to find out the temple timings and visit the temple for the Darshan. We were told by the locals there is a dress code to visit the temple.

Activity

We got ready in the dress code for the Darshan. Men usually wear white lungi and shirt and women Saree or suit for the Darshan. We reached the temple walking which was nearby for Sandhya Aarti. Phones were not allowed so couldn't get pictures.

Sight Seeing

Next day we woke up early to plan our day. There were few places on our list. Ban ganga, dhanush Kodi last road of India, & pamban bridge road, Dr. APJ Kalam sir' s memorial. We started off from Ban ganga. It was sweet river water as clear as mirror.

Sight Seeing

We moved next to visit the roadway built on Pamban bridge. You can see the entire city from there. The beautiful water looks green and blue and lush green coconut trees sway along the wind. We enjoyed our sight and felt the wind on our faces.

Monument

We moved next to visit Dr. APJ Kalam sir's memorial which is built in the city and last road of India which was few kms away. No gadgets are allowed in the memorial, so no pictures but it was worthy to watch the timeless and gem of India.

Sight Seeing

We moved further to see the last road and end of India. We literally got Sri Lankan signals tower messages in our phone. It was surreal to watch Bay of Bengal water at one side and Indian Ocean on the other. We had our emblem standing tall over there

Hotel Stay

After the wonderful experience of Rameswaram it was time to leave this city to move to another. Loved the cultural heritage and slow life. Experience to hold on for a lifetime. With so much we said Vanakkam to the city.
