A trip to remember - Kolkata

"Kolkata" the city of joy, a city less explored. You might have heard a lot about this city, but never got a chance to really consider it as a place to travel.

You can reach Kolkata by Train, Flight or by driving your own Car. Howrah and Seladah are main railway stations which connects to almost every city in India. You will be landing at Netaji Subash Chardra Bose International Airport if you come by Air.

In Kolkata most of the tourist love to stay around Park Street and Sudder Street which is basically heart of Kolkata. Although hostel networks are not too big in Kolkata but you will be able to get hotels at cheap rates here.

Day 1

Maa Kali is the most worshipped goddess in Kolkata so what else would be better to start your day with darshan of Maa Kali at very famous Kalighat temple. Have breakfast in nearby places, you will find stalls with fresh hot Kachori and Sabji.

Now board at Kalighat Metro station and head towards one of the biggest museums of Asia "The Indian Museum" located near Maidan Metro station. It will take around 2 hours to explore the entire museum.

Visit Victoria Memorial and explore it's amazing architecture and lush green gardens with beautiful lakes. Stroll around Maidan and you will be able see so many people playing football and cricket and enjoying their time. Enjoy Jahalmuri near Maidan.

This is one of the most beautiful church in Kolkata, it's architecture resembles with a church in Paris. Spend some peaceful time here. Maidan would be the nearest metro station. We had best papdi chaat outside the church do try it.

Take stroll around british era buildings and architectures around Esplanade and Dharmatalla. Fort William, Writer's building, Marble Palace, Raj Bhavan, Metcalfe hall, Eden gardens are few of them. Do enjoy yellow taxi ride through these roads.

Have lunch at nearby places around Esplanade and if you are street food lover do visit very famous Dacres Lane a paradise for street food lovers. Esplanade would be the nearest metro station. Chicken stew, Rolls, Chowmean are the best options.

Shopping

Shop your heart out here, one of the cheapest markets in Kolkata. You will find everything here fancy clothes, shoes, bags, jewellery etc. Esplanade would be the nearest metro station.

This place is very famous for its amazing sunset view that too from boat ride. Try to reach here before 6 in evening and enjoy one of the most amazing sunset of your life. Boat rides costs approx Rs. 200-300 per hour.

Welcome to the most happening place of Kolkata "Park Street". This place is all decked up while Christmas and New year Eve and famous for its Pubs and Restaurants. Peter Cat, Mocambo, Kwality, Oly pub are few of the famous joints you can hop on to.

Day 2

Start your day early and visit Asia's biggest flower market and get lost around colorful and fresh flowers. You will be able to enjoy amazing view of Howrah Bridge from this ghat and buy some flowers and click some amazing pictures.

Walk over to iconic howrah bridge stands only on 2 pillars over Hooghly river. You can enjoy ferry boat ride here over Hooghly river.

This place is kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore's home. You will feel proud standing inside the home of world famous poet and writer who has also written our national anthem. Try club kachori and jalebi at Kanhaiya kachori.

Photography

This is one of the most artistic place in Kolkata. This place is famous for making of Maa Durga idols. You would see how they put their heart and soul while making as beautiful Idols. Try Mitra cafe for some lipsmacking snacks. Fish Kabiraji is must.

There is one say that if you don't find a book in Kolkata's College street then it's very much possible that it doesn't exist in world. Yes it's that big market of Old and New books. Stroll around both lanes around the road, heaven for book lovers.

Do not miss to visit iconic "Old coffee house" it is the place where Kishore Kumar and Satyajit Ray had spend times to brainstorm their ideas. They serve amazing sandwich with coffee. You can find Putiram sweets nearby famous for sweets.

This place is also known for its variety of things to shop here. You can some home decor items from here. Do not miss tram ride here.

Bengali food without which your Kolkata trip will be incomplete and the people of Kolkata are big time foodie. Fish Pathuri, Daab chingri, Sorse Ilish, Kosha mangsho etc for non vegetarians and they do have amazing menu items for vegetarians as well.

Day 3

Dakshineswar Kali temple is also one of the famous temples in kolkata. It is also said that all your wishes comes true here. If you have visited early in morning then you can explore Belur Math also after taking a ferry boat ride.

Event / Show / Play

If you are traveling with family and children then this is the place you must visit. You will find amazing activities and rides here all related to science. Amazing place for children to have fun time.

One of the biggest park in Kolkata famous for various activities like cycling, toy train, fountain music, Japanese garden. Also you will be witnessing miniature of 7 wonders of world. Spend some good family time or couple time here.
