Elephanta Caves

Exploring the ancient wonders of Elephanta Caves

I have started my journey towards the Gateway of India to explore the rich Indian heritage. After a 45-minute drive in a kali-peeli taxi, I reached the Gateway of India.

The Gateway of India is a famous monument located in Mumbai, India. It was built during the British colonial era and was inaugurated in 1924. This iconic structure stands at the waterfront of Mumbai Harbor and serves as a prominent landmark & tourism

Near the Gateway of India, I bought a ticket to Elephanta Jetty for 250 rupees. After a 1-hour boat ride, I reached Elephanta Jetty.

From Elephanta Jetty, I hopped onto the toy train to reach Elephanta Village. From the village, I climbed a few steps and reached the entry point of the Elephanta Caves. Toy train ticket - 16 rs, village entry ticket - 5, Caves entry ticket - 35 rs.

The Elephanta Caves are a UNESCO World Heritage Site located on Elephanta Island. These ancient caves are renowned for their rock-cut architecture and historical significance. The caves are dedicated to Lord Shiva.

After visiting the Elephanta Caves, I had lunch outside the caves and headed back to the Elephanta Jetty on the toy train. Then, from the Elephanta Jetty, I returned to the Gateway of India by boat.

From the Gateway of India, I headed back home by taxi. It marked the end of an amazing trip to the Elephanta Caves, dedicated to Lord Shiva.
