After reaching the station we had booked 2 rickshaw's to roam around the city. We had planned an itinerary with Habib from Gouri Tours after checking the reviews on google. We first went to our stay and freshend up. On our way we saw Jodhpur Station
We stayed at Nature trail camp & homestay. We had booked 3 tents and since it was summer we booked AC tents. The place was decent if you are looking for budget stay. It is around 8km from the station. We freshened up quickly and left for lunch
After Jaswant Thada, we quicky rushed to Mehrangarh fort as it was going to get closed by 6. It was a huge fort and had very beautiful architecture. We could see the entire blue city from here.
Later, in the evening we visited the stepwell - Toorji ka jhalra which was nearby the market area. This was a hangout spot. There are many rooftop cafes and restaurants nearby this place. You can walk around the streets and explore
In the evening, we had our dinner at Open house cafe near Toorji ka Jalra. We sat on the rooftop to have a full view of the stepwell as well as the Mehrangarh fort's night view. The food was average but the ambience was good.
Next day, we left early morning to see the old blue city. Our tour guide Habib took us around and we explored these beautiful blue painted houses. The best time to go is early morning as later the place gets crowded.
We left from Mandore gardens to explore the Osian Desert and Temple. It was 2 and half hour long journey. First we visted the temple, then had our lunch and went later for desert safari. We hired an open jeep. You need to bargain a little for this
We headed back to Jodhpur and spent the evening just to chill and relax near stepwell at Sam's art cafe. We had coffee and it was amazing. The ambience was too good and they have kept antique pieces for sale in the cafe.
Next day, we had very few places to go so we started off little late. First we visited Umaid Bhavan palace. Only few part of it is open to the visitors. The other is turned into hotel now. Later we went to Gypsy, a famous place to have our breakfast.
We then visited Rao jodha desert rock park which was a part of Mehrangarh fort. It is a hidden garden in the desert. There are sandstone formations inside and there are certain color markings and we were asked to follow the yellow one
Lastly, we visited the Mahamandir which was inside the old city. We ended our trip here and left for Bhagat ki kothi station for our train back to Mumbai.
We took Surya Nagari train from Bhagat ki kothi which started at 7:30pm and reached Bandra terminus next morning at 11:30am. It was long weekend trip during holi and we had our best time.
