Maldives on a Budget

Though Maldives seems like a luxury trip, we did it on a budget. Read along to find out how!

Aeroplane

We boarded a late night flight from Mumbai to Male with a layover at Kochi. The visa on arrival formalities took just 1 hour and we were ready to go!

Day 1

We reached Maafushi on a speedboat from Malé. Maafushi is one of the smallest islands of Maldives. It is just about 1270 x 265 m. You could easily explore it on foot or bicycle (could be provided by the Hotel you are staying with).

Day 2

Scuba Diving

We finalized Maafushi Dive for our diving experience after enquiring at a few dive providers in Maafushi

Day 3

Snorkeling

We went for a full day excursion with Kaani Tours which included 3 point snorkeling, a sandbank trip and dolphin safari.

We booked a speedboat from Maafushi to Anantara Veli, the luxury resort.

Day 4

It was such a beautiful island that we found it to be part of heaven. Anantara basically has 2 islands, Veli and Dighu and there is a boat which can take you from one island to another in just couple of minutes.

We stayed at the overwater villa which had direct access to the ocean from the sundeck.

The boat ride from Anantara to Hulhumalé had a stop at Maafushi. It was a the same kind of speedboat we used to travel from airport to Maafushi and Maafushi to the resort.

Day 5

Hulhumalé is a normal local island which gives you the commmon city vibes. We booked a stay here for one night as we had an early morning flight to catch.
