Ooty - Coonoor Trip
Trip to South India is incomplete without visiting Ooty and Coonoor Hill Stations!
Day 1
The journey from Mysore to Ooty is really beautiful. You'll cross Bandipur and then enter Mudumalai tiger Reserves which will leave you spellbound 😍 We thought of covering a destination side by side, Pykara Falls.
Waterfall
Originating in the Mukurthi peak, Pykara River and the waterfalls the river produces is one of the most beautiful and majestic sights that you will get to see in Ooty. Cost: Rs 20 pp + 100 (video cam)
Hotel Stay
Great place to stay while in Ooty. The semi deluxe and suit room are great if you get them with balcony. Food was delicious, but service could be improved.
Day 2
Garden
The pride of Ooty lies in the Rose Garden, which belongs to an elite club of 35 rose gardens around the world which has won the Garden of Excellence Award for South Asia from the World Federation of Rose Societies.
Amusement Park
At the boat house on the premises, you can either pay for motor boat rides or hire a paddle boat or rowing boat as per your convenience. And the adjacent amusement park makes sure that kids don’t leave the place heavy-hearted.
Place
This place is basically a museum where you'll get to know everything about Chocolate. They'll offer you a complementary freshly made chocolate. Fee: Rs 50 pp
Museum
There are many things to see in this Hill station but one must make sure to visit the "Government Museum in Ooty". This museum enhances the remarkable collection of different tribal object. Videography is not allowed.
This is the place where you can see right in front of your own eyes, how the tea gets prepared that one utilities in Chai and also the production of chocolate from scratch.
End your day walking around the picturesque Botanical garden of Ooty. Vibrant place with stepsscase type of garden divided into 4-5 parts. Takes around 1.5 to 2 hr to roam around & Enjoy your evening.
Day 3
One just cannot afford to miss the Nilgiris Toy Train Ride from Ooty to Coonoor/Metupallayam (or Vice versa). Book the tickets well in advance from IRCTC Website. Second Class: Rs 150 & 1st class: Rs 350 pp
Garden
Home to 1000 plus species of colourful and vibrant flowers, the Sim’s Park is a well-maintained botanical garden where you can enjoy nature at its best along with exploring the breathtaking landscapes.
Mountain
Counted as the topmost tourist attractions in Coonoor and a must-visit place for nature admirers, the Lamb’s Rock offers some fascinating views of the surrounding valleys, which are hard to miss. There are 3 viewpoints in this area.

From this point you can get amazing views of the Catherine falls and also if the weather is clear (after Feb) you can spot mountain shaped like a Dolphins Nose It's good place if you're with family/spouse.
Restaurant
Delicious food. Be it South or North Indian. Had lassi, thali and fried Idlis which were lip smacking! Do try it when in Coonoor.
Was lucky to get glimpse of the Steam Engine which is deployed b/w Coonoor and Metupallayam. The track has steepest gradient (in Asia) b/w Coonoor and Ooty so diesel engine is used in that part to push the body.
Market
This road contains the marketplace of Ooty. Municipal market, Lower & Upper Bazaars are the right place to buy Spices, clothes, handicrafts, chocolates for taking home or other souvenirs. Lit place 💯
Day 4
Mountain
