Rajgad. As the Name suggests it is the King of all Forts in Maharashtra. Rajgad was the first capital of maratha empire. And it is one of the best trek in Sahyadris and feels like home for trekkers.

Rajgad is in pune district of Maharashtra.The base village of Rajgad is Gunjavane. Although it has many routes from jungle but main is chor Darwaja from Gunjavane Village. Gunjavane is 65 km from pune. You can use public as well as private transport

Trek for Rajgad is 3-3.5 hours. Hardness level is easy to medium. And perfect for beginners.

Rajgad has its 3 extensions called as 'Machi' namely :- 1. Suvela Machi 2. Sanjivani Machi 3. Padmavati Machi. These are used as extra layer of defence and for watchtower in surrounding area.

Suvela Machi is perfect for Sunrise View. It is favorite spot for trekkers to watch sunrise. And the Sunset from Sanjivani looks surreal. One just can't miss the Sunset and that peaceful vibe of that place.

The main attraction of Rajgad is The Balekilla. Balekilla literally means the centre or most secure spot of fort. Trek for Balekilla is 30 min but it's quite challenging. Over the Balekilla you can visit the Rajwada and court of Ch.Shivaji Maharaj

Rajgad is perfect one day trek from pune. Rajgad offers best view all across the year but the best period to visit is between Sept-Oct when you can get lucky to get the view of Clouds trapped in the valley.
